Artists & Makers Review and Giveaway

You will definitely want to keep your eyes peeled for this brand new publication, called Artists & Makers, from Interweave/F&W/ ClothPaperScissors.  A lovely magazine, filled to the brim with very useful information for the artists and creatives out there like me, making a living making Art!

I loved the article from my Facebook friend Jen Cushman, called "Work your Art",  where she talks about how to get away from the age-old term "Starving Artist" and answers a few really poignant questions regarding selling and teaching.

There are  a few features on specific artists, and also some very helpful articles such as the one on setting up a perfect Open Studio sale/open house.   The In Focus article on how artists have chosen to give back to their community will have you interested and inspired in finding out about how you can help yours.

Half of the pages in this poor magazine are now dog-eared for me to go back to! I know you'll love to read this one cover to cover.

Guess what!?

I have 3 extra copies to give away to 3 random winners!! To enter to win, leave a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite artisan related magazine is and why.  I will announce the winners the morning of Monday Dec 1! See ya on the flip side!

Good luck!

  14. I don't know what my favorite magazine is. I change issue to issue and sometimes months go by where I don't read any. Then there's so much stuff on line that you can soak in directly. Pinterest! My favorite art magazine is pinterest, lol. I'd love to get away from being a "starving artist" as well.

  15. It's hard to pick a favorite. My top 3 would be Stringing, Jewelry Affaire, and Crochet. Oh, and Where Women Create, too. If I had to pick, I'd say Stringing. I love the wide variety of styles represented. and all the different designers' takes on the themes. This new magazine looks interesting. I love to read about successful artists, so I can learn from them, and be inspired to keep pressing on toward my own goals.

  19. Oh, this sounds so fab. I think my favorite is Jewelry Affaire because the designs are simple, but still stunning and the ideas included in each design really are do-able (within my range of skills). They always spur even more ideas from me. I always have a sketchbook by my side while I drool over pages. Thanks so much for the opportunity!

  20. Favorites would be Jewelry Affaire and Where Women Create. I read and reread....go back weeks later and peruse again. Love 'em. I saw this magazine advertised somewhere and skimmed a copy on the stand, but I was too rushed to enjoy it. I'd love a copy - thank for another giveaway opportunity!

  21. Oh dear, do I have to really pick ONE??!! Ok, anything Stampington publishes is fantastic. I treat them like a book vs a magazine. And then there's Step by Step Wire Jewelry - think I have every issue. But this new one looks like a winner. So hope I can be one - thanks Lorelei and IW/F&W.

  23. My first thought was, "I don't have a favorite!" There are so many out there - some good, some full of ads. But I really admire and appreciate Sage Bray and her quarterly magazine called "The Polymer Arts". She works hard to create thematic writers and articles that follow the theme. And it works. 24. I love Polymer Café for those that work in polymer clay. It's always fun to see what other artists are doing in a medium you love. The new mag looks like a good read.
