Hoarding Calm

I am as guilty as you when it comes to hoarding my favorite beads. See that focal? The flower, etched leaf, and vintage button have been in my stash for quite some time.  It was hard to pull them out and use them, but I'm glad I did. I like how this piece turned out. It has a very tranquil and calm way about it.
Today I am feeling more calm. The cat seems to be leveled off, is eating well, taking her meds with no issues. This makes me happy. Working hasn't been bad, knowing what is to coming in only 7 short days. I'm sure next week I'll be totally freaking out about leaving the museum. But until then, I'm going to try to relish and keep this calmness.

  1. Such a positively calming necklace, really like the heishi(?) beads and soothing shades of warm grey and peachy-coral.

  2. It is difficult to use those special beads that we hoard. For me, it's like I have to make the one perfect design, which is a ridiculous notion. Beads are meant to be out there in the world-- to be enjoyed, to be worn, to be admired. And you certainly did these pieces justice. Lovely! Glad that Marley is doing okay. That's always a worry. I have one cat (Hope) who I love dearly so I understand. Seven more days at the museum. That must seem kind of surreal. The best is yet to come!

  4. What did you find out about Marley? I'm getting ready to take my 16 y.o. cat in for bloodwork today.

I have quite a few beads that I will pull out and touch and look at, but won't put on anything. I always think "no, not this time.."

  10. Good for you for being brave enough to use beads that you've been hoarding. The neclace is beautiful!

As for leaving your job at the museum, it will take a bit of time to find your comfort zone and get a feel for a routine. But soon you'll be settled in and wondering how you ever did it any other way. Just remember to make time to visit with other people so you don't become a hermit.
