Wheeee! Jade Scott Pinwheel Challenge

A few weeks ago the Talented JADE SCOTT, sent out pinwheels to 7 participants. Today you will get to see the outcome of what those pinwheels grew up to be!  Everyone is working with a different color, enameled copper pinwheel connector with a hole on each end. This creates versatility and I can't wait to see the unique pieces everyone created!

First up, moi!

I was stumped for a little while, not knowing if I wanted to create a bracelet or a necklace.  I received a robin's egg blue pinwheel and as I was looking around my stash, noticed this bright kazuri lentil and decided to play off the colors in that. I brought out all the purple and and teal beads I could find and eventually ended up with a few art beads, some stones, some copper chain and matte purple peanut shaped seed beads.

I assembled the beads with the pinwheel first at one side. I strung all the seed beads and other beads on 2 strands of beading wire so that I could have a chunkier look in between the beads, but also so that I could weave the 2 strands through the purple enameled C Koop Beads ring (below the pinwheel).

Some lovely ceramic beads from Elaine Ray seem to work perfectly with the whimsical nature of my necklace. I also added a ceramic house bead from Jubilee, and some lampwork glass from Sue Beads.
Overall I am happy with the outcome! This will land in my etsy store sometime today. I know someone will love it's happy-go-lucky nature!

  4. Great job with bringing all the colors together. You always do such nice work. That Kazuri bead looks like it was meant to be in this piece. Love the use of the peanut seed beads. I need to check those out.

  5. Lorelei, one more thing -- in your blog yesterday you mentioned that you were using Picnik. I have not had too much exposure to that program but I did sign up just before they decided to close down and then got their notice that they were closing shop. Did you get the nice effects on your photos from there? I like how you added text and rounded the corner in your photos. There is just so much to learn and it is so much fun learning. Thanks for allowing me to play along with this challenge.

  9. Very cheerful design, Spring here we come! I really love how the colors in the lampwork beads play off of all the other beads. I also like the placement of the pinwheel. Even though it is not center, it is still the star (but not in an over powering way). Beautiful!

  15. Lorelei, your piece is beautiful! The colors are absolutely stunning together. They remind me of a basket of Easter eggs. I love how you've incorporated the C-Koop ring. I bought some of these in Pasadena but haven't used them yet. Your necklace makes me feel happy on this dreary, overcast day.
