Lucky Girl!

Lucky girl!! I contacted Andrew Thornton recently about
getting one of the new one- of -a- kind bronze metal clay
pendants before they (Green Girl Studios) ran off to a big bead show. He said
they would save some if people were interested.
Lucky me got one of the owls that was left over from the show!
I can't tell you how excited I was. It's so beautiful and
had lovely little fingerprints on the backside, which I love.
This necklace that I designed around the owl, is
influenced by my favorite designer, Andrew Thornton.

These two pieces are being listed in the shop today!
I had fun playing with some new wood beads from
E & E Bungalow. They are my favorite
wood bead supplier on Etsy.

This first necklace features a beautiful
emerald green handmade ceramic
pendant from Lisa Peters. This was
actually a link and had a loop at the bottom of the
pendant also. I trimmed it off with wire cutters
to use it as a pendant instead. My favorite part of this necklace is
the funky green Czech glass discs that look
so cool when they are strung on wire.

  7. Oh gosh, what are the stones in that last piece? They're stunning.

As for the second-to-last, I think those Czech discs are very cool! Were you using two lines to string them with? I can't think of any other way to get that neato column-stacking-effect.

    Beautiful stuff. ;)

  8. Hi Amanada!
The stones are Blue Feldspath - I got them at Limabeads.com
And the Czech discs are sitting on one wire, and they sit like that because the hole is through the disc at the top of each disc. It's hard to explain it. But the hold doesn't go side to side, it goes straight through in the middle. And they're kind of a rounded like a pillow so I think that's why they sit that way on the wire. Got them at my local bead shop.

  9. You've really have made brilliant pieces! I'm so glad that you had so much success with those pieces.

Here's a secret: Those finger-prints are mine. Shhhh... They are dramatically smaller than my normally finger-prints though as there's quite a big shrinkage rate with the firing. So don't go thinking that I have child-sized fingers or anything. ;-)

Anyway, you really are a remarkable designer. I feel really blessed to have followed along and seen you really grow. You've created several signature looks that I think are just killer.

    Keep up the good work!

  10. Andrew,
    Thank you very very much.
That means so much to me coming from you...
I love that those are you fingerprints. HA! How awesome.
This necklace sold almost immediately just from this blog post. I don't normally wear a lot of necklaces so I was okay with letting it go.
I'd like to get a few more of these pendants and have emailed Greg several days ago but haven't heard anything back from them yet.

  11. Hey Lorelei,

I'm the one who usually presses out the bronze coins. It's a big mess and I think I'm the only one of the GGS clan who either doesn't mind or has done it enough that it sort of rolls by. Anyway, we're out of bronze clay and I'm not sure if they've ordered any. I can ask if they're planning to. I'm fairly certain that we're out of the owl coins. I set one aside for you when I got your email awhile ago.

Oh! Greg is on a trade show. He'll be out of town pretty much every weekend for the next couple of weeks. So, perhaps that's why he hasn't been able to get in touch with you.

  12. HI Andrew
    Oh that's cool. I know they're busy.
I'd be happy with any of the bronze pieces, doesn't have to be an owl. I should email him again and make sure he knows I'll take anything they have made...but I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't any left. The color of the metal is beautiful and I imagine everyone snatched them up! Thanks for letting me know!
